This is a technique designed to train the mind to manage with extreme emotions or when minds feel overwhelmed. By focusing on relaxed breathing, listening to a story and calm music, doing some craft, looking at beautiful pictures of nature and experiencing smells and tastes our senses “take over” and the mind relaxes, “freeing” it up from everyday worries and/or extremes of emotion.

It’s like a car in a traffic jam being directed down a beautiful, sunny country road devoid of traffic. By giving the mind a ‘break’, it is then better equipped to cope with worries, fear, anger etc in a positive constructive way.

Mindfulness has no religions or cultural biases and is suitable for everyone.
